See photos of small AC gearmotors below.
Small AC motors are compatible with the energy source making their operation and control very economical. AC motors work with simple on/off switching and reversible direction switching. AC motors can hold a load continuously and indefinitely without overheating. AC motors are brushless and the rotor is supported with long life bearings for continuous duty applications. Most small AC gearmotor utilize a single phase line voltage such as 115 V 60 Hz. Because of the many gear ratios available the output speed can be selected for the required RPM. We offer 3 types of rotors: Squirrel cage (induction), Permanent magnet (synchronous), and Hysteresis (synchronous). The motor stator is configured as single phase (shaded pole), single phase (with starting capacitor auxiliary phase), and 3-phase (3 coil windings).
Applications for small motors include: Valves, dampers, stirs, mixers, rollers, conveyors, actuators, augers, turntables, electrical switch gear, electronic panels, laboratory equipment, medical devices, defense and military equipment, aerospace, chemical, food, agricultural, pharmaceutical, HVAC, exercise equipment, beverage and shack dispensing, gaming, coin changing, small machinery, office machines, small pumps, and flow control to name a few ideas.

We offer AC gearmotors and actuators to provide simple connection to line voltages. Motors operate with single phase 24V to 240V such as shaded pole and induction motors. Split phase 208 – 230V induction motors, and 3-phase 208 – 230V induction motors are also available. AC gearmotors can be utilized as actuators; these motors can operate spring loaded doors, dampers, and other open/close type applications. AC motors can operate in a stalled position. Continuous operation motors solutions include conveyors, turn tables, stirs, mixers, augers, and rollers. Typical applications include agricultural equipment, air filtration, HVAC flow control, exercise equipment, food and beverage machines, ice dispensers, medical equipment, office machines, small pumps, electrical switch gear, and fluid valve actuation. AC motors with no reduction gearing are typically used for blowers, fans, pumps, and hydraulics.
AC fractional HP gearmotors are economical, high duty service, rugged gearing, available in low to high volume quantities with samples units available within a few days in many cases. The gearbox features can be easily customized for shafting choices, wiring and cabling configuration, connectors, brakes, clutches, fans, and other modifications.

We offer both hysteresis and permanent magnet synchronous motors. Synchronous motors work well as gearmotors offering additional torque.
The hysteresis synchronous motor is a machined steel body and available in size 8 to 44 frame (0.8" to 4.4") sizes for both military and commercial equipment. Motors are configured for 28 to 200 V and 60 or 400Hz typically and display very low noise and vibration and deliver uniform torque at constant speeds. Uses include precision movements in scanning, drums, and recorder mechanisims.
The permanent magnet type motor is a tin-can design with stamped steel housings. Generally the economical tin-can motors utilize lower torque spur type gearhead. These products are utilized where efficiency, constant speed, reversible direction, self-starting, dynamic braking, and very smooth low-noise operation are required. Starting torque and rapid acceleration is generally very good in these motors. Products are available in 50Hz, 60Hz, or 400Hz and work with 12V, 24V, 115V, 230V and other various voltages as required. The tin-can synchronous motors are configured with an internal impedance protection so the motor can remain stalled indefinitely making this a perfect solution for small actuators with bi-directional capability and hard limits. Typical applications include clocks, hour meters, recorders, turntables, platens, actuators, drums, stirs, office machines, medical and pharmacy equipment, irrigation and lighting controls, active locks, switches, and laboratory instrumentation.
